Unit 2:Thoughts on Blogs, the Course, and How Media Connects the World

I personally have never blogged, let alone have my own. I am doing this for my college class Emergent Media in hopes to venture further into the multitude of media outlets at my use. The class itself seems very interesting and should help me achieve my personal career goals. The idea that media connects the entire world is very true. Using media allows us too connect with people all around the world. I would say a major use of media is without a doubt business. Large business’s do not have the time for every single customer or co-worker, but by using various media outlets it allows them to convey messages faster than ever. In most business’s in the past a social media team was not really a thing, but now without a team the product will not sell nearly as much. One major impact the media is having now is financials. Apps like “Venmo” and “Cashapp” are changing the way funds are being sent for forever. Eventually you will not even have to go to the bank you use. Above all I believe that media has helped us realize the seriousness of natural and man made-disasters. The digital responders can notify authorities and the people of every situation going on currently. At the same time media outlets can get people to raise money for said disasters. A good example of this would be the most recent wild fires in Australia. Without media many people, including myself would not have even known about it. One major thing that media does to connect the world is the ability to use it to tackle everyday issues like racism, climate change, and social injustices. Social media has had a huge impact on social gatherings and allowing people to fight the government in a non-physical way. From pride marches to terrorist groups, the media has allowed a increase in these public displays of opinions. Without media the world would be a completely different place.
